Wood Apple?

India is not just filled with exotic places, people, religions ,  and animals, but also fruit!   This is a Wood Apple. Muches ,the cook ,gave us one and asked if we knew what it was.  The shell is very hard and the whole thing  bounces like a ball. The shell must be cracked like a nut to reveal the  odd, brown pulp inside.

As far a we we concerned it must be an acquired taste.  Apples from home have nothing to worry about with this  Wood Apple!

Have any of you had Wood Apples?  What do you think?
