Ah James Taylor, one of my favorite singers from long ago who is still performing. He came on the music scene in 1966 and was a good transition from folk to rock. His lyrics hit the mark and the melodious sound of his voice fill your heart. Who among us doesn’t need a friend!
James Taylor and Simon and Garfunkel are my favorites of all time. Who are yours?
Good choice. Great way to start the week. I would add Carole King to the list of favs from that era.
Not the best voice of the bunch, but what an amazing songwriter! In fact she wrote this song.

I do love Carole King. . . .a great talent. I am so glad you gave her credit for the song. I will use her for a Music Monday soon! Thanks!

You can’t beat ‘Baby James” Taylor singing a Carol King song. Not only is he a great singer and song stylist, he is a nice person, a man of his word. He was booked several times as front act for big name singers at the Guthrie. He credited Sue Wile, the promoter, with getting his career in the big time started. He always promised her that he would come back and do a show as main act at the small seated Guthrie Theatre. He fulfilled his promise, not once but twice. Both times he could have been performing in the large arena close by. And one time he brought his wife, Carley Simon, as a part of his act.
I know I told this story before, Ann, in a previous comment about James, but it”s worth repeating. He gave up a lot of money performing those two concerts and he did it because he was A FRIEND.

I always liked James Taylor. I got to see him twice perform, which is really special to me. I usually ‘long’ to see a singer once, but rarely get to see them twice! I like the way James Taylor’s song, “Fire and Rain,” goes, too.

Wow I’ve heard this song plenty of times. Just never knew the artist. Thanks for sharing. One of my favorites is actually a group The Bee Gees.
