Anand: This Gujarat family had a surprise visitor in their house and it was not a human being. It was a five-foot crocodile. The creature was not in their drawing room, but their bathroom.
The incident took place on July 21 in a residential society in Anand district of Gujarat.
Bharat Patel was entering his bathroom when he saw the crocodile in one corner of the bathroom.
Shell-shocked, Patel informed his family and neighbours about the animal’s presence. Later, forest officials reached the spot, caged the animal and released it in a lake in a nearby village.
This is a story from Gujurat that doesn’t make me happy! Yikes! Have you faced animals while camping or maybe in your house that are unwanted and uninvited? One good thing was this was not Ahmedabad!
My husband saw the curtain waving in our home in s-e Queensland, pulled it back thinking a gecko was behind the curtain, only to find himself facing a snake. He whipped our dog into the bedroom & when he returned, found the snake had left, hotly pursued by one of our cats. We later found out (and that’s when we screamed) that the snake had been a taipan, one of the deadliest snakes in Australia and renowned for its aggression. Most snakes will get out of your way, but the taipan will actively attack. Luckily for us the snake decided to beat a hasty retreat and luckily for our cat it didn’t bite it!

Wow. . .what a story! Did you discover how the taipan had entered your house?
Must say you Aussies are a tough, brave breed, including your pets!

Howdy, Anne. I found a much smaller reptile in the tub of my washing machine a few months back. My boyfriend was kind enough to get it out of there.
I’m glad your news story didn’t include anyone being hurt by the croc!

Oh, yes, it was a common desert lizard we have here. My glance was too quick to to notice which type, except that it was obviously a baby. It could have been an iguana.

My brother had a pet iguana who was a sweetie. I’ve never personally handled them, which is why I asked Alan to remove the baby from the washing machine tub. They have soft little bodies.

Lol, no kidding. I prefer fuzzy pets. We have a cat and a dog.
You know, my daughter worked in a beauty salon last year (she’s a licensed esthetician), and she was shocked when a man who was accompanying his girlfriend during her hair appointment opened his coat to reveal that he had an adult pet snake with him. The salon staff asked him to take it outside and not to bring it back. He wasn’t surprised, of course. That’s why he hid the snake in the first place.

You are a great story teller ! Yikes….hate, hate, hate snakes! In Albuquerque NM there is a museum of Rattle Snakes….there are nearly 20 kinds and all poisonous !

Thank you, Anne. Storytelling is one of my great passions.
I stay away from anything that rattles, too.
