Last night, I was talking with one of my Indian friends from Ahmedabad, Keyur Panchal. I was telling him about my day volunteering at ConSERNS-U Food Pantry. He told me about this cafe. . . . Seva where he has volunteered by serving and cooking. It is run by people who are in the Gandhi Ashram, and follow the tenants of Mahatma Gandhi. I actually had heard about it because two of the students had worked there just before we left. The people of India, both religious and secular, have a long history of feeding the poor. I have written about the Sikhs feeding as many as 100,000 at the Golden Temple by means of volunteer donations of time and supplies. The Hindu Temples serve a free meal and the Jain Temple in our neighborhood served a free daily lunch, as well. Anyway, Keyur sent me this video that he and some of his friends made of Seva Cafe and I am sharing it with you . It is definitely on my list to visit on this next time in Ahmadabad .
Keyur, is a graduate of film school, an extraordinary photographer who is filled with the Indian joy of life. He is listed at the top of the credits as producer of the video. Visit his Facebook or WordPress pages listed below. Thanks Keyur for sharing and your enthusiasm.

Have you ever been to a cafe similar to Seva Cafe where you pay as you are able, run by volunteers?
Thank you for sharing…:)
