This is Canada Lake, only an hour from where we live, near the Great Sacandaga Lake in the Adirondacks in New York State. Here are the grandchildren enjoying the view across the small, intimate lake.
The kids swam and swam and then skimmed over the water in kayaks or a canoe. They even took lake scrub baths with mild Ivory soap.
Look at the crystal clear mountain water. The concrete dock is the only one on the lake and a great place from which to swim or fish, early in the morning or in the early evening. The adults spent much time just sunning, and visiting while the kids swam!
This is the path , step entrance from the road. A visitor was struck by how Under the Hemlocks resembles a Steven King setting !
It was a boys camp years ago when the father of the current owner, owned and ran it.
The wide, comfortable porch along with the dock were my two favorite places. Sun shone directly only in the morning and was the place where I read two book during the week. The near building is the boathouse which also slept 4 people.

Brought me back to my younger days when our vacations were spent at garnet lake…a man made lake fed by mountain streams.water cold and crystal cleaf.even the Ivory soap baths ..which made me smile because we complained how cold the water was only when bathing but not when we swam
It was my father’s two weeks of relaxation. Never valid all those momentd until I was an adult.funny how perspective shifts with age.what great day to shard,Anne.it brought back a simpler time

What a lovely place Anne. I could live there, but only with several friends to help with upkeep. As usual, I would be the cook because I can’t swim and can only venture outside on cool days, but that sure looks like a great place to vacation.

You would love the rambling porch and the dock at the beginning and end of the day. I had to two girls who did most the cooking. . . . . lovely!

The rambling porch for sure, but bodies of water make me seasick. I would just put a rocking chair on that porch, maybe a swing if the structure would cooperate, and be in heaven on earth all the time. I probably wouldn’t even mind having someone else do the cooking, lol.

Almost necessary around here if you plan on going outside the a/c house.
