Disney’s new film opened last weekend. The subject is the true story of the most dramatic and successful rescue the American Coast Guard has ever made. The story is set in Chatham, Massachusetts and the conflict of the wild, fierce Nor’Easter in the frightening Atlantic Ocean and the sailors . This is a town where the ocean is the central family member. . . for the fisherman, Coast Guard, and summer tourists. It is also an old fashioned adventure which wants to inspire more than entertain. The year was 1952, long ago and far away. There is little swearing and no sex other than a kiss. The female lead is rather too bossy and take charge for a 50s girl but her hair and clothes were wonderful. This feel good story with real life heroes and their sacrificial love for their friends in need does make you proud.
We saw it in 3D which was enhancing. I read that some pAndeople thought it dark and murky in 3D, but it was a stormy, dark and murky night in the storm. We don’t usually like 3D but both enjoyed it in this film. It is fun on the big screen, and true. Good positive inspirational film.
And yes, I did cry !
