Sunday night was the first episode and my only complaint was that it was on later than I wished. See where the English went to escape the heat and sun of The Indian Summers. The accents make it a tad challenging to understand but Downton Abbey is in its last season, so this is a great addition! If you like history, great writing and acting, breathtaking scenery , filmed at the foot of the Himalayas and tucked into the tea plantations, intrigue , complicated love stories. . . .take a look. I love history, BBC miniseries with stellar writing and acting, handsome Indians, beautiful Indian women . . . . .and of course Incredible India!
Storyline

I saw it in London early in the year and I’ve met the cast as well! A friend invited me to on set in August and it was awesome 🙏

I did know it is shown in BBC land first before making it over the pond I remember Downton Abbey ruining Christmas with the death of Matthew! Horribly inconsiderate! LOL

I watch it cos I know a few friends in the show as extras and a friend did a lot of the paintings including the one that was destroyed. All the buildings are familiar to me so it’s fun to watch.

LOL. . . My husband likes to do that , too. I get glassy eyed at it all. When we came home from India this May, we binged watched Downton Abbey, and House of Cards, so I see the benefit of the whole story laid out . . . but oh the disappointment at the end knowing it will be months until the next season! We like the Blacklist, too and David planned it that we saw the end of the season last night and tonight is the beginning of a new season! Such a clever man! 😎

Hi Anne. I’ve heard about the British minis for years, but have never had much luck getting a clear signal for the PBS networks so I can watch them. Also, while I can understand most dialects if I can watch the person as he/she speaks the English have so many strange dialects that it’s nearly impossible for me.
On the bright side, as far as my apartment is concerned, I’m done! A few touch ups along the way, but the major part is finished as of one hour ago. Little things always to do, but no more feeling of go, go, go. Sleeping in tomorrow. Hope you can do the same thing my friend. Hugs, Angie.

This was popular here. The British love to dwell on their shameful past in India! (My father was stationed there, in the army, from 1941-1946.) The sets and period feel were captured well, and the British actors were mostly well-known to us here. I was surprised that you had some trouble with the accents, as everyone speaks ‘correctly’. You would have a lot more trouble with my South London accent, I fear.

I haven’t read it, but I have read a lot of others many years ago, about the time of partition and the end of the Raj. My father’s experiences, and his exotic tales of that country gave me an interest from a young age. Sadly, I have never visited India. Maybe one day…

Pete, I was blessed to visit Incredible India for a total of 8 months. My professor husband took architecture students to study and travel. My blog started as a sort of journal of my travels for posterity. I am a story teller, not a writer so the topics are just tales about things that touched me. It is a daunting task as I have 950 posts ! I can always suggest certain ones or you can type in places and see if I have a post! Do go if you have an opportunity. It is life chance. A flight to India is expensive but traveling and staying are still quite reasonable , at least for visitors from the west. Listen I would go back in a New York minute. I get all excited just thinking about it.
