Tonight at the Good Friday service, the lights will be low in the sanctuary, with one spotlight on a wooden cross. Each person will first write his/her sin on paper and then stand in line to knee at the foot of the cross, take a nail, and hammer it to the cross. This we do to remember the miracle of Christ’s willing sacrifice to pay the debt of sin for all who believe in Him. People will leave silently, rejoicing

Dear Lance, I was surprised to see your like as I knew you profess no faith. And of course , you haven’t offended. Faith is a mystery. . . . so simple for some of us to accept and so difficult for others. We each have to decide for ourselves. I respect your decision as well. You are a kind and gentle man! In my travels both physical and spiritual, I have found that that there is a connection between people of faith though the tenants of the faiths may be far apart. I don’t always have that connection with atheists but I try to be respectful to treat everyone the way I would like to be treated. The good old Golden Rule, which I see in your life,too!

Anne, you know I have traveled…and a lot too.
Made many many friends.
Most had a god.
Yet, the human decency was always the thing I sought.
And I always found it.
Even within myself.
So, yes, I understand you (and I do live by The Golden Rule–I do not need a bible to make it so)
Always have lived by that rule.
You have been very nice to me.
Some of my Christian friends have not–they recoil–but then, I guess they were not friends, now were they?
This I will not forget. (your kindness and understanding)
Gotta go (I fear I have imposed upon your time far too much already, but these are things I am passionate about, and just cannot shut up–but I will make an effort)

BTW love reading your posts… helps me keep up with you. Went to the RMRE 20th Reunion last night and saw soooooo many old friends. (old…tongue in cheek). Thought of those who couldn’t make it, you. Many went to Nando’s to gather together and talk, toast, and catch up on our lives. Dear friends and memories. Hope you are well.

I am thankfully well even using exercise equipment and have lost some weight. Dbell said we were the only people to come home from India having gained weight.
Big news is Dean asked David to take students to India like in 2013 next January. So happy as we really wanted to return. But I am reminded of Proverbs saying , man makes his plans but God has the final say !
